ABOUT BUDE, NORTH CORNWALL
Bude is a small seaside town at the top north west of Cornwall.
It has a fairly unique character as a Cornish town that has evolved
slowly and quietly. The towns position is shaped by its beautiful
beaches, canal and wharf area, golf course, river and physical
topology.
BUDE
It is a lovely Cornwall holiday destination made fashionable in
Victorian times. Since the demise of Bude railway the boom of that
era changed until the motor car steadily brought it back. In some
ways the lack of transport infrastructure to and from this part of
Cornwall has been good as it has kept larger development at bay.

There is a wonderful selection of restaurants and cafes, shops
and pubs in Bude. There is a wide range of places to stay from
Hotels, to guest houses, bed and breakfasts, self catering cottages,
apartments and campsites.
You can come for a weekend break or a long holiday away from it
all, you will certainly be made welcome and will probably not want
to leave.
A lot of our businesses are towards tourism and its services, but
with Poughill and Stratton we have a community of around 9,242
people living in the area. We have a very wide range of sporting
activities - football, rugby hockey, surfing, canoeing, kayaking,
surf kayaking, golf, horse riding, tennis, squash, badminton, etc
etc, we are a lacking in some entertainments, but we do have a
community hall for plays and shows, there is a cinema just outside
town and a couple of night club venues.
We have primary schools and Budehaven community School has just been
awarded Sports College status. There are adult learning and training
centres but our nearest university is 50 miles away.
